Apple out-of-warranty Mac repair specialist in Bournemouth
Experienced In-House Technicians
Our team of Apple Mac repair technicians brings years of hands-on experience with almost every Mac model out there. As Mac users ourselves, we know that Macs are some of the best-built and most precisely engineered devices around, which means they need a special kind of care and attention—not just anyone can properly repair MacBooks.
Over the years, we’ve seen countless repair attempts gone wrong and bodged fixes by other shops. That’s why we don’t focus on being the cheapest option. Instead, we’re all about offering great value by delivering reliable and precise repairs with excellent quality.
Precision Repairs and Specialised Tools
We go further than most repair shops. Our approach focuses on component-level repairs using micro-soldering under a microscope, with schematics, diagrams, and boardviews to breathe new life into your hardware. It’s a meticulous process, but it often saves our customers money compared to more extensive replacements.
We’ve earned the trust of customers across the UK, from London to Glasgow, and even other repair shops rely on us to fix the trickiest problems. Our shop is equipped with tools you simply won’t find at Apple Stores—like microscopes, thermal imaging cameras, ultrasonic cleaners with special detergents, and a state-of-the-art laminar flow hood for screen repairs. Everything we use, from our materials to our tools, is chosen with one goal: to make sure your Mac gets the best care possible.
We’ve Seen (and Fixed) It All
From 20-year-old Macs to the latest Apple Silicon models fresh off the shelves, we’ve tackled it all. No matter if it’s liquid damage, a cracked screen, or even Macs that have been run over by cars, we’ve brought them back to life and recovered critical data. When you bring your Mac to us, you can feel confident you’re in good hands.
Logic Board Repair
We are able to repair your existing logic board, for a reasonable cost, whilst preserving your data.
Data Recovery
Apple Macs have their storage soldered to the logic board – we are able to repair >85% of logic boards & recover your data.
Liquid Damage Repair
A full service, including ultrasonic cleaning, logic board repair and examination under a microscope to bring your Mac back to life.
Our Repair Process
1 - Bring in your device, anytime
You will be quoted exactly the same as on our website - a fixed labour fee. There is no need for us to see your device to quote you, we just need a simple description of the fault.
2 - Receive a call/email update
We will assess your device, and call/email you with an update - or to say your device is repaired. Depending on complexity and if parts are required, this can be 1-5 working days.
3 - Collect your repaired device
Once any parts have been authorised and your device is repaired, you can collect your computer/laptop. We accept card, cash or bank transfer - you can even pay online before collection.

This PS5 came in for no power. We injected voltage onto the main power line, and then using our thermal camera, found a capacitor glowing - indicating a short circuit. If a shop does not have such specialist tools, they may very well tell you your console is unrepairable - when it really isn`t! #ps5 #boardrepair

Overheating in the PS5 is a common issue caused by a design flaw where the liquid metal used for cooling can shift due to gravity. To properly resolve this, we don’t just replace the liquid metal—we also polish the APU with a specialised compound, ensuring a clean surface for optimal heat transfer before applying the new liquid metal. #ps5 #liquidmetal

This gaming MSI laptop came in with display issues. Unfortunately, MSI are quite poorly built and in this case it was a graphics card failure that was causing the problem. Although the GPU cannot be replaced, we managed to remove the drivers and prevent them from being installed again allowing the customer to use their laptop as normal.

This Mac wasn`t booting to macOS. The WiFi/Bluetooth chipset had failed. Rather than replace the entire chip, we carefully removed the top of the chip by drilling away at the material. (See picture 2 with the image transposed)
We managed to see inside the chip and find the exact capacitor that failed - measuring under 1mm! Again, we used a ultra fine drill to remove it, removing the short.
To our knowledge this process has never been attempted before by any other store.
Better tools, better technicians, better repairs, at bits.

This is the second time we have now had a customer bring in an iMac repaired by the same competitor - they used hot glue instead of the proper adhesive around the display, and they used an off-brand SSD that failed in less than a year. All the vents are also clogged with dust and weren`t cleaned.
It is unacceptable to fit such low-quality parts for customers who could then lose their data as a result, and use hot glue on such a precisely designed machine.

This Mac was brought in for liquid damage repair. First things first, lets blow out the decades worth of dust clogging up those fans, and replace the thermal paste.

Another shop fixed this iMac before and used hot glue/silicone to reattach the screen, not genuine Apple adhesive strips!
When picking a shop to repair your Apple product, make sure they specialise in Apple repairs so they don’t do a bodge job like this! The official adhesive is specially designed and cut, so that it holds the display securely, whilst allowing the iMac to be opened again for service.

This USB C port was completely ripped off when the laptop was dropped while charging. The customer thought it was a write-off and time to get another one. After rebuilding the tracks on the motherboard, and soldering on a new port, its as good as new and lives to see another day. #soldering #righttorepair

This PS5 came in due to randomly turning off. Like many we have seen, in some cases, standing up the console causes the liquid metal to drip down over time, and cause air gaps between the processor and heatsink. Another easy fix for the bits team. #repair #bournemouth

We are proud to be an independent repair store – this allows us to offer a variety of repairs that authorised Apple service providers do not, whilst maintaining the same level of quality you would expect to see on a Mac. Our specialised services include LCD-only screen repairs, logic board repairs, data recovery, battery replacements, and more.
Our technicians have access to advanced tools, such as soldering stations, microscopes, hot air rework stations, thermal imaging cameras, digital power supplies, a forensic laminar flow hood and oscilloscopes. Apple Stores do not possess these tools, as their staff are not trained nor experienced in how to use them. This allows us to perform complex repairs that go beyond what Apple Stores and repair depots offer, including detailed logic board repairs and the replacement of specific components that Apple stores do not stock.
We use genuine LG displays—the same manufacturer Apple uses—ensuring you receive the same display quality. Our approach is to repair only what’s necessary, rather than replacing the entire display assembly, which keeps costs down and reduces waste. When you send your MacBook to Apple for screen repair, they replace the entire top display assembly, often costing double what we charge. What’s more, we offer a 1 Year Guarantee – Apple only offer 90 days.
Choosing our independent service means you benefit from expert repairs that you cannot find in an Apple Store, significant cost savings, and a commitment to sustainability.
Apple design MacBook displays to be durable and reliable, but like any glass surface, they do not crack on their own. Physical force or impact is required for any damage to occur. The inherent structure of glass ensures it won’t break without an external force—whether that’s pressure, impact, or extreme temperature changes. While tempered glass, found in car windows or cookware, behaves differently, an LCD display cannot spontaneously crack.
It’s important to remember that cracks caused by external forces are not covered under warranty, which is reserved for manufacturing defects or issues related to workmanship. Once your MacBook display is repaired, it will be just as resilient as when it was new. However, careful handling is essential. Mishandling or neglecting proper care can lead to further damage, which is unfortunately not covered.
Please note, warranty claims will not be entertained for any display that shows signs of physical fractures or cracks, regardless of size or location. We strongly encourage you to handle your Mac with care to avoid any future issues.
We replace JUST the Retina display (known in the industry as an LCD – liquid crystal display) that is actually cracked, and leave the other components that are unaffected by a damaged screen (hinges, backlight, iSight camera, ambient light sensor). This allows us to keep our prices low, whilst providing a high quality of repair. This is especially important for the newer Mini LED models as it preserves the original Apple backlight allowing for a high quality image. It also means the aluminium chassis and hinges are genuine Apple; third party hinges tend to either be too loose or stiff.
We continuously monitor the pricing of our competitors to ensure we charge below the average market cost, to provide value for money for our customers. Despite being better value and cheaper than most providers, we use genuine Retina display panels, so the display quality is identical.
We are approved and trusted by Bournemouth University, Arts University Bournemouth and Bournemouth & Poole College – IT services at all 3 universities direct students and staff to us for repairs, as well as having our flyers and posters on display.
We are a VAT registered Limited company, having been in business since 2010, and we have been located on Bournemouth High Street since 2013 – you can rest assured your Mac will be in good hands, and our excellent reviews are testament to our service. We have repaired thousands of Apple Macs in over a decade of business – as Mac users ourselves, we understand that premium products call for a premium standard of repair by qualified, experienced technicians that understand the level of engineering within. We never outsource, all repairs are done by our own staff, within our own store.
All your information is handled in accordance with GDPR and the Data Protection Act – we have no access to any of your information/data on your Mac during the repair – it is physically impossible without your password. To permit us to test your Mac post-repair, we ask you enable a guest account which provides us with no access to any of your data, only a Safari browser window.
We offer a 12 Month Warranty that covers any replacement parts and our workmanship – as opposed to the 90 days Apple offers with repairs. We only replace the LCD which means you keep True Tone functionality, Auto Brightness, and the original Apple lid (hinges, chassis, camera, sensors).
We re-invest our profits into our service to offer customers the best repairs possible – we possess tools you will not find in an Apple Store; namely thermal cameras, forensic data recovery software (R-Studio, Autopsy), high end microscopes, soldering stations, factory schematics and diagram software and our latest investment is a forensic grade laminar flow hood to prevent dust ingress from ambient surroundings whilst repairing your screen.
Security wise, our building is protected by 4K CCTV cameras, recording both video and audio 24/7/365. Our property is double alarmed with redundancy (door sensors, glass break detectors, motion sensors, vibration sensors) with remote alarm monitoring, and both CCTV and alarm status can be checked remotely, so our staff can respond and attend the address in minutes in the event of an alarm activation – even in the early hours of the morning. Our shop is half a mile away from the Police station, allowing a 2 minute response time. Shock detectors mean we are aware of a break in attempts before intrusion even occurs.
See our About us page for more.
Our repair prices are fixed and transparently listed on our website. While we welcome trade customers to send devices to us, we do not offer a white-label service or discounts, regardless of quantity or frequency of repair. Our focus remains on providing a seamless experience directly to end users—no intermediaries involved.
We often receive inquiries from shops regarding discounts or trade pricing—please note that this is strictly non-negotiable. We kindly ask that you respect our policy.
We offer a 12 month warranty on all repairs – the warranty covers the repaired component only, and not the entire device. We do not remove any components (other than the back cover and Wi-Fi antenna) to access the display. Therefore the warranty does not cover any component other than the display.
We do not cover any accidental damage, as the warranty is not equivalent to insurance.
If your screen stops working within 12 months of our repair, please contact our team in the first instance. With Mac Screens, we ask you send a clear photo of the entire display, to verify there is no damage. If there are no obvious cracks to the screen, then we can arrange for a collection on your preferred day.
Once your Mac arrives at our store, we inspect it to verify there is no damage or cracks. In cases of screen replacement, this can include removing the LCD to make sure there are no cracks around the very edge of the screen, beneath the black bezel area.
Postage costs are fully covered under our warranty. However, if the issue is found to be outside the scope of the warranty, or if we are unable to reproduce the reported fault, a £30 fee will apply. This fee is simply to cover the costs associated with collecting and returning your device – we do not gain any profit from this.
For instance, if your Mac had a screen replacement and you submit it under warranty, but the screen is cracked upon inspection, this would not be covered under warranty. In such cases, if you choose not to proceed with a paid repair, the £30 fee will be charged to cover postage expenses.
Cracks:
There has been recent media coverage of consumers claiming their MacBook screens have cracked by themselves – it is physically impossible for a screen to crack by itself. A screen crack is always the result of physical pressure applied to the display. We use panels direct from LG and Sharp that are no weaker than your Mac screen will have been before it broke; in other words our screens are no more susceptible to damage than your original display would have been.
If you have a crack on your display, this will unfortunately render your warranty void as it is not equivalent to insurance.
We highly recommend against any cases, screen protectors, keyboard covers, camera covers as we have had numerous Macs sent in with broken screens, as a result of these.
Traditionally, the entire top/display assembly would be replaced if you broke your screen. This is much like replacing an entire wheel, instead of the tyre when having a puncture.
We replace only the bit you’ve broken – the LCD screen. By not replacing unnecessary parts, we are able to offer a cheap MacBook screen repair, whilst not sacrificing the quality of the screen.
This type of repair also means we don’t replace your camera, sensors and hinges with a lower quality third party option.
We regularly compare our prices to competitors, and we believe we offer some of the best prices in the UK for Mac screen replacement.
Yes, as we must remove the bottom cover of your MacBook to replace the display, we will also clean the insides of all dust and contaminates using high pressure air at no extra cost, in order to restore thermal performance and improve cooling.
If you would also like your thermal compound replaced, this can be done for an additional fee.
No – the price you see is the price you pay in total, all costs include VAT, Labour, Parts, Collection & Delivery and Warranty. The only time the cost would be higher than what you see on our website is if:
- Your display is liquid damaged, and thus needs either a new backlight, backlight sheets or FaceTime camera – if this is the case
- Your chassis is severely bent/damaged meaning the new screen cannot be fitted correctly. (Please see ‘What if my lid is damaged or dented?’ under the Repair Process category above. Some dents/scrapes are normal and will not impede our repair process.
Once we complete your repair, an invoice is sent to your email which allows you to make payment via card – debit or credit, Apple and Google Pay, Amex included. Payments are handled via Stripe, a PayPal company. All financial details are handled by Stripe, we do not process any of your financial information.
We do not accept card payments over the phone, cheque nor bank transfer.
Unfortunately not – without seeing your Mac, we cannot provide a formal quote, as we can only quote for what damage you have disclosed. The price on our website is fixed (assuming you do not have liquid damage, warping/bends/severe dents to your top lid, as this would cost £49 extra for most models), or a broken bezel (£20 extra).
After making payment you will receive a receipt that you can submit to claim back the cost of repair on insurance, or through your employer etcetera. The onus is on you to check that you can claim back the cost, as your insurance company may or may not cover it.
Unfortunately we do not offer any financing options. Payment is due once the Mac is repaired, before it is posted. If payment is not received, we cannot post your Mac.
Our MacBook screen replacement are fixed cost, with all prices listed above. Repair starts from £239 and is on average 40-50% cheaper than Apple.
Yes – we are able to repair your existing logic board in about ~85% of cases, as opposed to replacing the entire logic board. Not only does this mean your repair will cost less than at an Apple store (usually 50%), you will preserve your data, which will potentially save you thousands of pounds for data recovery.
Very often, an entire logic board is written off by Apple for trivial faults, such as one single faulty IC, sometimes however, liquid damage for example can inflict devastating damage onto a board, and cause significant corrosion. No matter how serious, we can always look and attempt to repair a board, and in the most serious cases, we may be able to repair it to a sufficient extent to at least recover data. See our Instagram for more examples.
- We charge a fixed labour fee as listed above, which depends on the symptoms of your Mac fault – in order to keep things simple, we only require a plain description, for example, ‘my Mac does not turn on’.
- The fixed labour fee covers all level of work required, including logic board repair, and also includes collection and delivery insured to £1000 (although you can increase this to £2500 for £10 extra).
- Parts are not included, and if any parts are required as part of the repair, a member of staff will always come back to you first so that you can make a decision to proceed – parts are not always required for all repairs
- If you decide not to proceed with the repair after any parts are quoted, we charge £49 in total as a cancellation fee, and your Mac will be returned unrepaired – this fee covers our time, as well as the costs of collection and delivery via Royal Mail
